The Foundation
The Urgenta Foundation is a Dutch non-profit volunteer charity organization (NGO) engaged in community development aid to Eastern European developing countries like Romania and Moldova. The foundation runs medically based technical development projects in hospitals to improve medical facility services. The organization solely depends on volunteers. All projects are financed through donations, grants and sponsorships provided by other NPO's, governments, social clubs and companies. Occasionally, sponsoring by means of donated goods, equipment, knowledge, and means of transport is also obtained.
Since 1990 we have been in contact with the University Hospital Sibiu. From 1996 on, relations with other Romanian hospitals were established. All these hospitals have the same needs in common. Modernization of buildings and medical installations is just one of them.
Objective
Improving hospitals' medical and technical facilities in Romania and Moldova by:
- initiating and supervising development projects
- providing expertise concerning renovations, equipment, infrastructure, sterilization etc.
- education
Origin
The Urgenta Foundation originates from the FIMA Foundation which was looking for a way to provide international medical and technical aid to the University Hospital Sibiu, Romania, back in 1990. Since 1996 the Urgenta Foundation does her own fundraising. In 1998 the Urgenta Foundation became an independent volunteer help organization.
