We have a Romanian translator!

At the beginning of April, we were called by mr. Ron Schellekens, representing the Sonneheerdt Association. The Sonneheerdt Association's main mission is creating possibilities with and for the visually impaired and blind, according to their demands. Ron was looking for a volunteer translation job for one of his clients, mr. Simi Topliceanu. He's a Romanian who has been living in the Netherlands for quite some time now. We gladly accepted his offer and in the meantime, Simi has already translated some documents in Romanian like the news page and the current projects. The Romanian site had not been updated for a long time and finally this has changed.
Thank you Simi and Ron!

Development projects 2006 Romania

These are busy times, just before the Eastern Holiday! In the past 15 years, we'd have been in Romania already. It's the first time we'll leave after the the Eastern Holiday.

The truck was loaded on friday and left for Sibiu, Romania (check the donation certificate). Time of arrival is planned at Thursday, April 20th, the same day we plan to arrive in Romania.

We're going to carry out 2 development projects from April 19th untill May 5th. On Friday and Saturday, April 21th and 22nd, we'll start with the installation of 8 oxygen and compressed air outlets at the delivery rooms of the Spitalul Judetean Sibiu (University Hospital). After the Eastern weekend (in Romania, it's a week later), we'll start with the project at the Cardiology department of the Spitalul Clinic De Pediatrie Sibiu (Children's Hospital). This department will be fitted with 36 outlets for oxygen and compressed air.

If there's enough time left, we'll try to install another 8 outlets at the First Aid Clinic of the Children's Hospital. The hospital plans to completely renovate this department in the Summer, to improve the logistic capabilities.

As always, the projects have been made possible by donations and support by different people and companies. Our gratitude goes out to:

Upcoming projects Romania

Since our last visit to the Children's Hospital and the University Hospital in Sibiu, we've been busy preparing for the upcoming development projects in Romania. We plan to carry out both projects at the end of April. The technicians will leave on Wednesday, April 19th.

Online DonerenWe're still not there! Transportation of the crew and the materials has not been arranged yet. It's a costly affair and we haven't succeeded to retrieve the necessary funding. The good news is, there are still a few possibilities to explore.

Nonetheless, we could still use some interested sponsors. If you think you can help us in anyway, please contact us. Of course, a donation is appreciated as well. Please donate on banking account 7825857 Stichting Werkgroep Urgenta or donate on-line through the donation module.

Children's Hospital

We are going to install an oxygen / compressed-air network in 17 boxes of the Cardiology Department. The severly ill patients (up to 2 years old) will stand a better change of survival when this installation is installed.

We're still short of some of the needed supplies but we are convinced we can come up with the goods. First we have to extend the main network, which we've installed in the past, from the main building to the pavillion where the Cardiology Department is residing. We have to cross a distance of 50 meters, partly through a connecting channel between the main building and the pavillion.

The oxygen installation is already installed by the hospital's technical services. We're going to take care of the branches to the 17 boxes, including the medical compressed air connections. In total, we'll install 34 outlets. We will use a tehalit skirting system which will carry all pipings and outlets.

University Hospital

We plan to install an oxygen / compressed air network in two delivery rooms of the Women's Clinic. In total: 8 outlets. Each year, 3000 babies are born at this department. This installation will make it easier for the doctors to lead woman and child through labor.

This led to a secondary recommendation report by the Urgenta Foundation which deals with the wish list of the medical equipment. Additionally, the Urgenta Foundation has calculated the costs of installing basic facilities in the Trinity and Cotaga Hospital.
