Project Air Facilities ICU & OR Children's Hospital Sibiu
Introduction:
The Children's Hospital is located at several buildings across the city of Sibiu. General Surgery is based in the main building. The operation-center consists of four OR's, four recovery rooms and four ICU's. The hospital has renovated the whole complex (including the equipment) in springtime 2003 but it was severely restricted by their financial means. What is truly missed, is a central medical gasses facility (mainly compressed air and oxygen) with sufficient outlets at the beds.
Project:
Construction of a medical gasses installation and sufficient outlets in several rooms. If necessary, the existing piping will be adapted. Financing is made possible by The Round Table 147 (Kromme Rijn) which for some years now, has supported multiple projects of our foundation.
Realization:
April 2004
Details:
December 2003
In the week of 1 December 2003 we have paid a number of visits to Pediatrics. Meetings have been arranged with the Technical Services concerning the implementation of this project. During these meetings the question was raised whether it was possible to hook up the first aid out-patient clinic to the facility as well. This means a distance of another 70 meters has to be covered and extra outlets have to be installed, all in one week! We have indicated that we are willing to do this but that we are running a tight time schedule as it is. Furthermore, the budget for this project will not be sufficient for this extra work and equipment.
January 2004
Recently the Urgenta Foundation has gotten a hold on a 3-phase DAF diesel generator (380 V). The Children's Hospital has indicated it would be of good usage to them. Urgenta will take care of transportation and installation of the generator in April 2004.
Costs:
€21,000.- (approx. $26,580)
Project Trainee ship Students NHTV
Introduction:
We have been called upon through the Heart for Romania Foundation by NHTV Breda University of Professional Education whether we could help organize a trainee ship in Romania. We're talking about a group of approximately 70 students! Undoubtedly, we think this a wonderful initiative and have promised our assistance.
Projects:
There were a number of possible projects (all in or in the area of Sibiu):
Hospital garden
The hospital garden is about 1,000 m2. The garden needs its annual spring preparation.
Corridors
The hospital has several underground corridors that connect the buildings. Especially during winter months these are no exuberant luxury. Jobs to be done are cleaning up the walls and ceiling. About 2,400 m2 of painting.
Main kitchen
The hospital's main kitchen has been privatized in December 2003. The catering organization asked us to help smarten up the kitchen. Painting the walls and ceiling whilst kitchen staff are doing their regular jobs, will be a real challenge. About 1,500 m2 of painting.
Service kitchens
There are several service kitchens on the hospital floors that also need a new coat of painting. About 1,000 m2 of painting.
Storage rooms
The hospital has got four storage rooms that are being used for storage of merchandise donated from abroad. Unfortunately, some of the equipment in these storage rooms remains unused. Consequently the storage rooms are a big mess. Cleaning and rearranging in collaboration with several storage room managers.
Physiotherapy building II
Elsewhere in the city we find physio building 2. In this building physiotherapy is done on patients. To paint a number of therapy rooms would be a great improvement. About 800 m2 of painting.
Planting potatoes in Purumbaca de Sus
Approximately 30 km outside Sibiu there's a village called Purumbacu da Sus. Hard labor has to be done by the locals on the fields. Potatoes need to be planted. Around 12 acres of planting potatoes in cooperation with the local farmers.
Primary school Porumbacu de Sus
The primary school of Purumbacu da Sus definitely needs a painting.
Children's Aids home
Their garden needs a good spring preparation.
Dermatology
The building is being renovated with help from the GDGO Foundation. Most likely the building will be ready in April 2005. Previous to the return of the patients this building needs to be cleaned. We have also been asked to provide the garden with plants and flowers from Holland.
Realization:
April 2004
Current situation:
